I purchased one of these Flexidome Flash Diffusers this week. I used it over the week end and in some of my pictures in the center have a lighter area which makes it look like a spot light. Is this because the flash was to strong or what. I am using a 580 EX Cannon flash unit. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
I have not used this but it would seem that it is not really diffusing that good. You may be right on output but should test it. Set up camera on tripod, aim at wall and run a series of exposures at different flash output levels. Take notes. Look at images and see if any display the problem you speak of and then look at the notes and see if those are from the higher output levels.
Oh how funny is this, I just googles RPS flexidome and these are the Gary Fong lightsphere clones from China. The google search was for an item on ebay for $34, that is a lot for a knock off, they were $10-15 in the past, GF Lightspheres were only $49 for an origional. Wow.
anyway, the lightsphere was made for weddings and people and was designed to be used pointing up with the head twisted 90 deg so that vertical and normal would put the lightsphere in the same position. It is made to give you ceiling bounce with front fill.
Did you use it the correct way or pointed straight? The Chinese knock off didnt come with instructions? :)
No, I didn't point it up for Bounce flash. I was pointing it right at the subjects. Thanks so much for the information. I will work some with this to see if I can get it right. Thanks again.
