Hi Peter,
I don't think it is possible for an ugly superb fairy-wren picture. These guys rock the cuteness factor.
You have a great BG and perky pose. Good exposure.Great HA and body position.
I wish for a prettier perch and I think you can tease out a bit more detail in the blacks behind the tail.
This could also work as a vertical as long as you don't show any more of the perch.
One to be proud of,
Gail

Perfect ! .......a truly great example of these beauties.........perfect color rendition and some detail showing through in the blacks, maybe a bit more could be brought, but then again that may look a little unnatural. Brilliant detail and nice isolation with a smooth backdrop..........................I like to refer to the Blue Wrens as " Australian Smurfs " lol lol

Peter:
What a cute, stubby little guy! Nice colors in bird and BG. I certainly could see alternative crops, both a vertical as Gail mentioned and a slightly tighter horizontal.
Cheers

I Like the OP comp with a bit off the right, the Vertical looks too boxy.
I don't mind the perch and I really like these little birds.

Hi Peter, every image of these guys that I have seen on this site, they are always posing with a cocked tail - Im presuming thats their natural stance when perched. Love the colours on this species and they do stand out against your BG. Im actuall y fine with the perch, and would have shown more to place him higher in the frame. Your OP comp works best with maybe a little off the left, and a bit more off the right.

Thanks for helpful comments Stuart. Yes you are right that is their natural stance. So far I have only seen it down when they are playing or preening.
