The flurry of RBNU posts seems to have abated, so I thought it was time for another. This one has a bit of a different pose, that I thought showed off his inquisitive nature.

    BILL:

Ye, it is quite the inquisitive pose, love the BG colors, interesting perch.

I do think that a slightly squarish vertical might work well with this image because of the pose. It would also reduce the impact of the perch a bit. Again, I like the perch, but it has so much detail it out competes the bird a bit.

    Cheers

Killer perch and BG ... nice head angle and excellent detail!

Comp works for me but I miss seeing the tail.

Just love that background, the pose, and the lichen on the perch, Bill. Agree with Mike in terms of missing the tail a bit. Comp looks fine to me.

Love the detailed perch and sweet pose. Not to bothered about the tail myself but of course would be nice to have it . I would be tempted to crop a tad tighter from the left and top to lessen the amount of perch.

Agree with others relative to great bg, head angle and good techs. I too would crop from the left.

Great shot, Bill. I especially like the beutiful painterly background. The perch looks very nice. If it was a setup, a slightly angled perch would have been better.

I love the background colour and how it matches the Nuthatch's breast. I also like the subtle light and what a cracking perch Bill.

Thanks everyone. You collectively picked up on the two things that bothered me. I can't do anything about the tail, but I agree that cropping a bit might reduce the impact of the perch. Sometimes I get hung up over a 3:2 format.
