    Default Bald Eagle

This has to be the most amazing place I have ever photographed birds. It's just one breath taking mountain scape after another, with hundreds upon hundreds of eagles everywhere along with some other cool species which I'll share soon. We photograph landscape and "eagle scapes" at dawn and dusk, and then go for more traditional eagle shots and action shots when the light is stronger. Huge two to three foot Chum Salmon dart all around my legs in the streams. Sometimes I run across a weak or dying salmon and toss it on the bank for the eagles near Haines. This eagle came in quicker than I had time to back off.

Stunning. Love the down-the-barrel stare and the remarkable detail. Amazed that you were able to get such good dof @5.6 with him that close.

Love that intense stare, and super sharp detail, what an amazing sight it must be to see so many Eagles in one area, nothing like that here in Australia sadly

    Matthew:

If your going to crop tight, well then might as well go all the way as you did here!

Lots of impact, intensity, I live the splayed neck feathers, sharp, great details, exposure.

Look forward to more from your trip.

    Cheers

Absolutely awesome and powerful image, Matthew. The detail and depth of field are fantastic. Super detail in every feather. An all around stunner.
Just wondering how much of a crop this is?

That is one awesome in your face eagle. I like the look your getting and those massive feet. Nice detail in the whites as well.

I usually don't like these clipped wing photo's, but the depth and 3d look is superb.
I also don't know how you did it with 5.6.
    Very well done.

Fantastic close up Matthew, one of the best I have seen of this bird.

very nice! I like the closeup details and the high impact. good exposure but I see some noise (chroma) in the undersides, seems too much for ISO 400.
