Hi Carole - he really does have a beautiful mane. I like the walking pose and don't mind the negative space on the lhs (though I'm sure some will suggest a portrait crop), I just wish for a tad more space above and below. It feels a little to tight to me as is.

Hi Rachel, I also have vertical pictures of him. as I was shooting with a 500mm fix, I couldn't zoom out. I chose this one because the look of the lion was the nicest. thank you for your comment!

Hi Carole, vertical crop is the way to go.
Certainly a nice head on shot, but it just doesn't work as presented for the reasons stated above, too tight. If you had the space then it would have been a cracker. Did you not have time to swop lenses? Was there where the shot of the four lions were?

Lovely image Carol, well captured, it all look good to me and i like the space, feel it a little light top and bottom but more so on the bottom.

Nice look and head-on approach, but I agree on the tightness detracting from the overall image. Why did you not turn the camera to shoot in portrait mode, you should have fitted him in nicely?

Hey Carole,
Yeah.....I too would have voted for portrait......but in the heat of the moment....we know how that sometimes goes! I do think you can add some more room on bottom carefully. That would really make this image as he is quite the handsome fellow!

Hi Carole,
nice head on shot with an excellent walking pose , good combination well captured ........ if it were in vertical.
Sadly to tight on bottom and top , dead space too large for me.
Nice colors, tones and contrast.

Hi Steve, I posted another picture of the same lion, which I think is a better crop. I'll post a vertical one later. and yes I swopped camera's after that one, but my card was full after a few shots with my 200mm... anyway, got plenty of pictures from those lions. and no, the four running lions where taken in zimbabwe in Antelope park, they were in an enclosure. these are wild lions of moremi, north gate, Botswana. that is why I was so excited and couldn't really think straight!
