    Hi,

This image was taken 19 April 2012 in the Martin Refuge in Texas and I am uncertain on the id, even though my best guess is Bullock's Oriole. Would appreciate assistance .

Hi Svante- I've looked at Bullocks and Baltimore in Sibley and IMO your bird shows the "brownish scapulars with dark centres" of the Baltimore. Edinburg, TX is within the migratory range of the Baltimore.

I have to admit that my eye is drawn to the Painted Bunting male!!!!!

Thanks John. I was also looking at the Baltimore in Sibley but couldn't decide. Looking at images on the internet didn't make me much wiser since most images are males.

With respect to the Painted Bunting I had plenty of opportunities to get images of them (I spent ten days in hides in Dos Venadas Ranch, Laguna Seca and Martin Refuge plus a couple of days at The Pond at Elephant Head in Arizona which all was a fantastic experience). This image I think would have been much preferable without the OOF bird ;-).
