    Mike -

This is a very nice, detailed shot of the long-tailed duck in flight. The more images I see from experienced photographers using the 1DX, the more I want to jump ship (jk). Great choice of aperture here to get the full body in focus. Wonderful control of both the blacks and whites on the bird, even with what seems like strong light. Not sure I'd change a thing on this one!

If you have more from this series, I'd love to see one with the wings fully extended, if you have it.

Mike, face is sharp as a tack and I like the slight amount of motion blur in the wings. Lots of fine detail (Water droplets on breast, for ex) and the incoming pose is excellent.

Sweet capture. I am so jealous, tried for these last week but no luck. The flight position is really cool, the sky looks great, and the exposure looks dead on. Nice job!

The light, angle and pose really set this flight shot apart. Not an easy duck to photograph, and you nailed it.

Almost always my duck shots are an image of it's rear end, unlike this beauty coming front on. Very sharp details and superb exposure, and blue backdrop as well..........excellent

    Just wonderful!
1/8000...I don't think I have ever shot at such a fast SS!
tack sharp and the incoming angle is great.
    DOF is perfect as well.
You are an amazing photographer Mike,

    You really nailed it!
1/8000 a good call, Fast flying Ducks I have found need a minimum of about 1/4000 to get sharp.
I have never used 1/8000, although I might try after seeing this.
    Great shot!

Sorry, I should have posted the shutter speed at 5000s and not 8000.
At 8000 I would definetly lowered the ISO a bit.

Looks great Mike! I particularly like the dangling feet and the good view of the tail feathers. Nice job with your exposure. And I like the way you pushed your ISO a bit for maximum shutter speed.
