Tripods allowed at Gatorland and St Augustine Alligator Farm?
Not sure if this is the place to post this, but I'm wondering if tripods are allowed at Gatorland and the St. Augustine Alligator Farm? I'm hoping to visit both in late February. Also, I assume 600mm or more is recommended for full frame? Thanks!
I can only speak for The Alligator Farm .... never been to Gatorland. Tripods allowed. 600mm will be useful but plenty of opportunities for 70-200 as well. Well worth buying a Photo Pass which gets you in an hour before the public and allows you to stay after closing until sunset.
Tripods allowed at both.....but realize......try to keep it compact as possible so you don't block the walkway. More of an issue at St. Augustine than Gatorland.
I checked out the Alligator Farm at lunch Friday and there are signs of nesting, posturing, etc., in the rookery, but Gatorland is usually several weeks ahead of us so I had to drive over Saturday. Tripods are not a problem at either place. There are already Great Egrets on eggs at Gatorland! Take a look at Gatorland's site, they're really accommodating photographers lately with early/late hours and several different ticket packages for 2013.
Super -- thanks Robert! Our time frame is now March 5-25 and it will take us several days to get to FL, traveling in a small plane and at the mercy of weather. Sounds like I should try earlier next year -- schedules get filled too easily.
