    Default Bonaparte's Gull Feeding

    Attached Images Attached Images

Captured this a few months ago when a flock of these fast flying little gulls came through my area for a week or two. Had a fun time shooting these as they zipped around feeding on these flying nats. This shot was taken just before sundown hence the yellow hue to the gull.

Thanks as always for looking and for your input. Appreciated.

Sweet light David. I also love the ever so slight upper tilt of the head as the gull
    locks onto the nat.

Really impressive that you got the open beak and the flying gnat!
Tack sharp and love the yellows of the sunset.
    Really good,

Magnificent flight pose in golden light; you have captured.
Love the pose with open beak and chasing the flying nat in front of him, beautiful exposure on bird and wings.

Exceptional image, David, lots of impact. These have to be one of the prettiest gulls and your image captures that perfectly with the fanned tail, nice wing and foot positions. Feeding behavior puts it over the top.

Talk about timing. Wow! It couldn't be better. Excellent pose with the wing spread, slightly open beak and the visible gnat.
Evidence of PP on the leading edge of the wing below the chest - easy fix.
This is a winner. Congrats David.

Fantastic light and pose. Debated the gnat......but gives a nice story and is very sharp!

Hi David, very well timed here, and to have captured the insect in the same frame certainly puts this up more than a few notches. Sweet light, and I do like the inflight pose of the gull, especially focussed on his meal. Well captured.

Wonderful shot, David! I fell in love with this gull when I was down in Florida a couple weeks ago, I was photographing some first year Bonaparte's in flight and their wing markings were so beautiful! Such an elegant gull, that you have captured beautifully here. Stunning light, wing spread, and moment of action/behavior. Awesome.
