This leopardess visited us at the Cubitje Quap waterhole in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, South Africa - She drank at the waterhole and then leisurely made her way to the dry Nossob riverbed. She looked up and down the dry curves of the riverbed, but decided that this tree will be a better vantage point...

Hi Rudi, Great sighting and image. The conversion although is not bad the leopard looks a little over cooked on the lightening and shadow recovery especially around her hind legs, the bg is great and i like the tree. Comp wise with her looking away from you and no eyes visible is not ideal, but i understand we can only capture what we see im sure if he had looked at you you would have rather used that image.

    Hi Rudi,
Brendon just took the words out of my mouth, think the Dodging and burning is a bit overcooked .

I like your traditional Color versions more.

I quite like the conversion and the idea. I like the soft dreamy look around the back legs. Maybe the head towards the camera would make it stronger but not sure if thats what you were going for.

I know what you were going for, Rudi, but feel you didn't quite get there...
For me the leopard "pops" a bit too unnaturally from the tree - as if she was pasted there, probably as a result of running the conversion in 2 layers without proper merging/blending or too harsh a difference between the toning/luminsity of the 2? Could you confirm your conversion process here? The tree also needs to have a bit more detail, despite it being the darker of the tones...

Hi Rudi - nice sighting but I have to agree with the other comments about the conversion. I like the stance of the leopard and understand what you were going for but it just isn't quite there. Hope to see more from the sighting.

    Hey Rudi,
Good advice above and have to agree with the hind leg area. A bit more tweaking will take this up a notch.

Thanks for the feedback guys! Markel, merelly a conversion in LR4 and some dodging and burning in CS6... Will give this another go and post sometime... Personally I like the way the leopard pops from the tree, but I understand what you guys are aiming at...
