    You did well in somewhat harsh side-light. I like that the yellow twigs match the color of the bird's feet. Little Egret? Cropping off the small horizontal leaf on the bottom frame edge or eliminating it would strengthen the image. Nice head angle and a good exposure. The deeply shaded, somewhat dirty-looking underparts are a distraction.

    Thanks Artie, I will remove the small leaf at the bottom. It is a 'Little Egret'. I am enjoying the 500 II lens, the clarity & sharpness is awesome.

    Agree with Artie's comments above. Perhaps a shadows adjustment in ACR or LR will help the darker areas? It's a very sharp photo with many good aspects. I might try to tone down the specular highlight on the bird's left leg too.
