Default Flight of the Great Gray Owl.

It always impresses me just how silent the flight of this species is! Even a chickadee makes more noise than a GGO when flying

Canon 7D + 100-400L @235mm, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/800s., f/10, ISO 1600 (f/10 was an inadvertant mistake but it turned out well), natural light, handheld, extend canvas left, top, and bottom, image rotation to straighten "horizon", and then cropped at right, a few darker stray straws along the grass band cloned out. Baited.

Another striking image of this great bird, Daniel. You guys are so lucky to have them around. I was tempted to go to the place but my wife said no, at least for the time being.

Hi Dan, great flight pose captured here, and with good sharpness all round. I also like the incoming angle too. What I really like is the hint of browns of the foliage in the BG, they complement the colour of the Owl so well. Another fantastic image from you.

Another winner Daniel. The flight pose and path are great and I love how the talons are tucked in, but appear to be ready to strike out any time now. Really like what appears to be the shadow of the owl on the snow. Excellent stuff!

Another stunner! Like Stuart mentioned, the foliage in the bg is a nice compliment to an already dynamic image. I've never seen one in flight, but I can only imagine how neat it would be. Such a blunt face makes this guys less than aerodynamically ideal, but like you said, they seem to make the best of it with silent flight! Looking forward to more!

Another superlative GGO image. I like the HA, the wing position, the spread tail & the visible feet. You have been sharing a remarkable series of images that I am truly enjoying. TFS.

    Daniel;

Wonderful. My favorite so far. Combination of the lighting, subtle BG, pose, composition, all work great here. The subtle shadow on the mound in the foreground adds a lot, extra sense of depth to the image.

    Congrats!

    Cheers

This is one terrific GGO capture, Daniel. Love all the details and you really managed to capture that "look." I like seeing the subtle evidence of environment.

This is the best of the series for me, a better pose than the first two, the IQ looks better and the f10 worked well.
You better give yourself the image of the week for once!

A Very dramatic image, the wing position and intense look mean business. Love the hint of shadow on the snow as well!

Wonderful image Daniel. With the indirect eye contact, I really like that you achieved a good look at both eyes, due to
    your shooting angle. Brilliant techs.

    Hi Dan,
I am late to the party but this is OUTSTANDING!
I insist you give yourself IOW!!
You are going to run out of wall space after you print up all these shots.
This is my favorite so far. I think it is the BG that makes it so nice, as well as the perfectly positioned GGO.The light is soft and the GGO has a light feathery feel to him.
Congrats on a wonderful image Daniel.
