Default Priority Perch (Long Tailed Shrike)

A thorny perch only added to the bi colored bg of this image. Long tailed shrikes are known to catch their prey and continuously strike them against these thorns till the prey is dead.

    Supreet:

Great perch, appreciate the story, bird is sharp, well exposed, nice pose for that long tail.

Composition is always a challenge with long tailed birds, but I think you made the best of it here.

    Cheers

Hi Supreet, I like the light in this, together with how the tail follows the line of the perch. Good view of the beak. Your long tailed Shrikes are more colourful than ours - ours are only black and white.

I like the light, slight head turn toward us and the thorny perch as well as the background.

Nice comp, colours, light, BG. Those two thorns are a bit close to the bill and throat, but hard to avoid in this case.

    Supreet,

I like the diagonal of the perch and the duo-tone of the background.

The pose is great, with minimal obstruction to the bird. I do agree with Daniel that the two thorns near the beak might not be the best for the image, but I wouldn't complain if I got this shot!

Lovely light and soft colored two tone backdrop, liking a lot the perch and diagonals of both perch and bird. My personal thoughts are I like the two thorns near the throat, they serve to give a sense of a perilous lifestyle these birds must endure....not to mention it's prey

Very pretty bird, I would run another round of NR on the dark areas in the BG, I like the comp.

What I would give to have a shrike let me get this close :). I think the techs are spot on and the perch is very indicative of the species. Sweet image!

Gorgeous light, beautiful bird and nice details. I typically get shrikes on barbed wire fences (metallic thorns probably work just as well when it comes to impaling prey). You've got it on a nice perch against a nice dual tone bg. Well done!

Very nice shot of this Shrike. Like the color to your Shrikes. Exposed well and nice detail. Pose and comp make for a great shot. Well done.
