    Ian,

Love the Ruddy's they are so beautiful and the subject form is just great. Lot's to like here assume this is the lowest angle you could obtain. The opportunity here is detail looks like good shutter speed did you pan the subject and is al servo turned on? Maybe a few hot pixels how does the histogram look could you add a 1/2 stop to the shutter which also helps eliminate the softness.

I might add layer of curves or levels as well to give the mid-tones some more pop,,,do you have anymore this subject got a tad past the lens but still a nice capture. Tell me how is Bosque, I am going to make Kerry take me there in 2013. Keep em coming friend, you continue to improve.

Terrific looking Ruddy you have here, and I am really liking the ripples. Light was a bit harsh but handled well.

I realize it's difficult to capture ducks at a low angle at the Bosque, esp at 400mm, so I think you did well in that regard. I am seeing some noise in the BG. Did you have a chance to do any noise reduction on this image?

Lovely image, the ripples on the water add lots to the atmosphere of the shot. Nice handling of the light too, and good sharpnesson the duck itself. It just seems a little too "side-on" for me...in the sense that it's just passing your location - not swimming toward you or away from you. I think this is the point beyond which I give up shooting. So good job capturing it at this last moment. Hope I explained myself well enough!

Ian, nice capture of the Ruddy Usually when I see them, they are in the shadows and it's almost impossible to get a decent image. Given the apparent high sun and harsh light, there is very nice detail in hte feathers
