I have not been inspired to try any OOTB creations lately but after looking at the mirrored bird images created by Dave Phillips I have spent many days trying to understand how he did them. Still working on that but have had lots of fun trying and learning. This is a portrait of a great curassow that I modified using PS Liquify and Topaz Clean.

That's quite a transformation and a great application for Liguify. The red/orange stands out so much I'd be inclined to lighten the iris of the eyes for balance.

Awesome! This looks like a fantastic tribal mask. I applaud your discipline with liquify. Generally I get carried away and like a kid with finger paints I end up with a puddle! Love the blues & those curled feathers for the nose. Agree with Dennis' suggestion for the eyes.

So clever! Looks like a mask. Love the feathers, especially around the edge.

You really did a great job with everything from the design to the amazing use of Liquify. I usually make a mess of it! I like the outer feathers especially. Agree about the eyes.

Dennis, Thank you so much for the suggestion on lightening the eyes. I love spending the time painting with liquify especially during these times when it is to dark and wet to photograph. For this bird I did about 20 versions. The curls for the nose came from another try that I used the swirl tool on.

Here it is with lighter eyes, did I go far enough?

I think the lighter eyes work better.

Laurie, the repost looks great! It reminds me very much of an African mask. I think you did a great job with the flip and especially with the Liquify tool

Good job on the eyes. I think if you go lighter you might start to lose the reddish color, which is important. BTW, I'll never be able to keep a straight face when I next see a currasow!

Agree repost works well, really does look like a mask you'd see in a native shop, well done

A great image. Not really that important to me how you did it,but that something really strong came out of it. A mask yes, but also a very haunting one.
