Nice moody shot but I wish for more of the bottom so that the legs showed.

    Hi Ric,
I agree with Bob E..........even though I love tight crops.........adding the grasses would have helped compositionally without taking away from the mood............that notwithstanding.........this one has a nice feel.

Love the unique atmosphere in this image Ric. The poses of the deer are also perfect. I do agree that more room at the bottom, even if it is for virtual legs behind grass, would improve this.

Wonderful atmospheric shot. I especially love the subtle color that stands out from the moody background. The touches of highlight really bring the deer forward in a beautiful way.

    Ric,

As Vincent mentioned, including the virtual legs is important in this type of image as the viewer sees they are standing and wonders about what is below the cut in the image. Even though it is grass and the legs are not present, the viewer feels more at ease seeing this area as opposed to wondering about it. This balances the image giving the bottom a compositional anchor.

As mentioned, the mood of the image is very good. Van summed that up nicely.

Wow, there's so much mood in this image, but as others have noted, this would be so much more powerful if there was more room on the bottom.

Nice Gothic feel to this one. I like the counter poses by the deer.
