Hi Rachel, a very tranquil image.

I think you can afford to 'beef' this up a bit more, overall I feel it's a little thin. By doing so it, for me, it gives depth & substance. Not sure if you lightened the Zebra, but overall the too blacks seem weak? I don't have a problem with the comp and you kept the reflection in too.

Hope others chime in, as you have chimed in on theirs!

    Hi Rachel,
I like the rippled reflection and the soft, dust filtered look of the light. Different to see a lone zebra drinking.

Thanks Steve and Steve - I didn't lighten the zebra but think the lightness is due to the warm light reflecting off the water. Here's a repost with some additional contrast and selective color adjustments. This zebra was the first one in the water the others all followed.

    Thanks again,
    Rachel

Steve commented on the one thing I noticed were the blacks were a bit drab. The RP is preferable and a much better presentation.

Hey Rachel. My first thought of the OP was that shadow recovery was overcooked.
Repost works nicely. Nice tranquil scene...

I like the repost, when I saw the original I felt the blacks were washed out but all looks good in the repost. Great light and nice detail. I would go for a sliver of the bottom and top but thats personal. Nice one Rachel

Agree with all the above RE the Blacks but RP as corrected this and is much improved. Like the soft light and the inclusion of the reflection.

Hi Rachel, I like your repost much better. I think, as I remember the light at Etosha, 35-45min before sunset, was much warmer. Give it a try. I am sure the Zebra will be in comfort
I do know it is hard, I still fight with my Leopard images with that light and the wonderful blue!!!! soon I give up and turn them all in B&W

    Ciao

    Hi Rachel,
RP for me , with nice soft colors of the dusty Etosha late afternoon light.

Like the comp and the overall tonality , the rippled water is a nice touch.
