    Default Pelican with Catch

This was shot last March in Fort Meyers Florida. It was fun watching these large birds catch and play with these fish. 1DMK4, 600, ISO 640, f/7.1, 1/2000

Magnificent image with great IQ.Love the pose, colors, sharpness and composition. Looks like fish is riding in the pouch of Pelican.

    Regards,
    Satish.

    Hi Nick,

You managed to capture some excellent detail in this image.

I do think, however, that it needs more room all around (especially up top) and some CCW rotation.

Hi Nick, good HA on the Pelican showing us his catch, and good eye contact from the fish. I do like these pelicans you guys have over there - plenty detail and colours to look at -, ours are a dull white.

Miguel hit the two big points on rotation and space.

Awesome timing Nick. Gorgeous light, tons of details, and two perfect head angles :)
CCW rot mentioned, and I'd add move the bird further down in the frame by a bit.

    Nice Catch!
Agree on more room above, but sharp and well exposed and it is nice to see the Fish.

Nice catch by both of you. In addition to some more space, I'd move the bird to a lower position in the frame.

Great pose and excellent detail! What makes the image special for me is the wonderful eye contact from both bird and fish.

Agree with comments regarding composition and rotation.

Great action shot, Nick. I find that you need more space above the head if you have it. Also allow some space on the left for the bird to swim into, if you have it.

Nick, fortunate, interesting moment! Would like more room at top, as mentioned . . .

Great detail and nicely timed...that looks like decent meal even for these big birds, agree more room on the top and left would improve

Nice one. You too advantage of some good luck. All good but for a bit tight above.

Thanks everyone. I have to find the original, not sure if I actually have more room or will have to add some canvas, but certainly agree on the recommendations.

    Hi Nick,
I love these gangly brown pelicans!
Why is this image posted at the smaller 1024 pixel width?
I love the wings partially up and the fish in the mouth.
I would prefer more room all around and a bit of CCW rotation.
I also feel it is a bit contrasty and would decrease contrast a tiny little bit.
A great action shot and a nice one for your portfolio,
    Gail

Wonderful to see the eyes of both the prey and predator in the clear...adds so much to the image!
