    Default Purple Swamphen (Porphyrio porphyrio)

Taken this morning on my way to work. Stopped of at the lake to have my morning coffee and watch some of the local birds. These guy's were feeding on the grass roots and came nice and close to see what I was all about.

    Charlie,

Looks like you were able to get down to a nice shooting position, providing you with a nice clean background. Nice detail throughout the face feathers too.

If you get the chance again, I would try to get a bit more of the lower portion of the bird in the frame. I think that for head shots like these you can really crop in tight.

Almost 3D in in this none Charlie, I think he just dribbled on my keyboard lol.

Great closeup and super fine detail and great side on pose to show off that eye, bit of grass is a nice touch too...my only small nitpic would be the brights on the beak could be toned back a little even if it just means using the burn tool on just that region........good stuff Charlie and stay cool, another hottie here today

Nice details from this close encounter. As mentioned above would like to see the bird occupy more of the frame.
The BG and beak could be toned down too
