Hello everyone. A couple of weeks back while driving along a canal I spotted this heron. I drove real slow praying it would not fly since they always tend to do that.
To my surprise it was not spooked by my presence and let me get pretty close.
    Taken right before sun down.

Nice shot Robert. The slightly raised foot makes it more than just a static pose, the light is nice and warm, and you got some nice detail in the plumage.

You made great use of the opportunity, Robert. I think Randy nailed the critique - that you've achieved a nice balance between the bg and the bird's luminosity. As everyone said, the light is killer.
    Very nice work.

    What wonderful light!
Good IQ as well. I wouldn't mind a bit more room up top to show off more of that great BG,

Great light and warm colors. Well exposed and full of detail. Like the pose with the clutched foot too. Very pleasing image. Well done Robert

Hi Robert, Herons always make great subjects, and good DOF on him too. Having said that, the detail shows from tip of bill, to tip of tail. I like the 'lazy' leg pose, and the colours in the BG adds that something extra.
