Default Pardy time in the old dam

The heat wave we are having has been drawing a number of birds to the rapidly drying old farm dam near home...a veritable " Bird Party " and a few Kangaroos gate crashing the show.

This is a Striated Pardalote that visited briefly to quench it's thirst. these birds feed almost entirely in the tops of the Gum trees feeding on sugary Lerps , but will come to water regularly.

Canon 7D + 500 f4 + 1.4 x TC....700mm, f7.1, ISO 200, 1/250 sec, no flash....small crop, selective sharpen, slight noise reduction to backdrop, blob of mud cloned off perch

Thanks for the kind words, these birds are quite common here, but not often venturing from the tree tops

Nice bird, lovely pose and background, Phil. I'm not so pleased with the perch.

That particular location + your heatwave is really paying off as far as bird photography goes! I'm enjoying the series alot. Another great bird, very nice details and colours. BG looks great and you have a well balanced composition. The weaker part of the image is the perch, which although not displeasing could be even better if setup by yourself.
