This Snowy Sheathbill image was captured at Bluff Cove Lagoon, the Falklands. I was impressed by the way that the bird seemed to merge with the white sand behind it. And then there is that amazing face!

    All C&C are welcome.

absolutely love this high key portrait! The detail and the muted colours all work perfectly for me. Maybe a little extra added to the left as the eye is very central and kind of holds there, but, great, great image for me!

    regards.

What an amazing image. Well conceived and captured. Colors are terrific against the high-key bg -- gotta love that face. Yes to a little added canvas on the left.

Spectacular hi-key image Norm. If I squint my eyes, it almost looks like an abstract. Beautifully conceived and executed. I agree adding to the left to increase dynamics of image.

I like this image alot as well. The high key works and really emphasizes the crazy bill. What is with that bill anyway? looks like it is shedding

Interesting merger of white on white, leaving just the bill and eye with a hint of feathers. I like it.
but Norm - I'm seeing a lot of noise in the bill and the eye -- you might consider using Ari's noise reduction techniques starting with the original RAW. I know that his method has helped me with difficult images.

Beautiful bird; I love how the snow BG merges into the feathers. I would like to see a bit more NR, and a slight head turn towards you would have been nice.

Absolutely love the image Norm. I think a bit more room on the left would improve it and the noise, especially in the eye, could be reduced.

In my opinion your choice of a high key presentation works great. It really brings out that cool beak. I like the subtle tone difference between the body and the BG. TFS

Thanks everyone, for your comments and suggestions.

I've tried to address a couple of your suggestions in this repost. To do it right, I'll have to go back to my RAW file and start over from scratch. But to see what general effect your suggestions would have, I've made some quick changes in an intermediate PS file.

    Again, thanks!

    Norm
