Sharp as a tack and bird stands out very well against the bright green backdrop, the backyard may be dark but the light on this bird is perfect. I do like the perch as well with it's bits of lichen ...looks as good as they get to me.

    Hi Roy,

So you had to crank up the ISO, but the bird looks very well exposed. Lovely detail and I really like the soft color of the background. Nice perch too.

    Hey Roy,
Love the bird against the dark BG! I would take 1/2 off the top to strengthen comp.....but all in all....a very nice image!

This is a solid, lovely image, Roy. Love that green BG as well as the perch. Cute pose.

Hi Roy- Great pose. Sharp subject and a nice perch. I am seeing some posterisation in the green BG to the right and above the bird. I am not sure what causes this.

The thumbnail doesn't do this justice.
Love the dark green BG but see something wonky ? posterization in the middle of the BG.
Bird and perch are rich and sharp,

Thanks everyone for the comments. I personally can't see the posterization mentioned, maybe it was the saving to web.
    Here's a repost, better?

Here's the effect Roy. All I did was copy the image, zoom in and resample up to 1024 wide.

I like the mood, the muted light and the sharpness of both the bird and perch a lot.
I would maybe move the bird to the right just a tad, but that is it.
I don't see anything in the BG thats odd to me at all in the large version.

John, you got good eyes. I do see it now, not sure what it is. I didn't do anything to the background except a very very small amount of gaussian blur >1 pixel
