    Default Osprey with Trout

Captured this a few weeks back at a lake not to far from my area. Had a great shoot and managed to get quite a few keepers. Like this one even though it is in an all blue BG.

Thanks as always for looking and for your input. Appreciated.

    David:
Excellent flight pose captured.I like the wing position,HA,lights, details and fish with open mouth.I am not sure what to say (IMHO) about water droplets.
Square composition suits to this pose of Osprey.Bird would take some more sharpening.

    Regards,
    Satish.

Nice capture with prey - love the expression on the trout. Good flight angle and wing position. Yes to a bit more sharpening, and I personally could imagine some additional canvas on the right.

Beautiful action shot with the wings in a nice upward position and a great blue sky background. The clincher for me is the open mouthed expression on the fish’s face.

    Hi Dave,
I like the pose and love the fishs' open mouth.
I feel that the IQ is missing in this image compared to your usual standard.I can't quite put my finger on the problem. Is it the harsh light or PP work but I can see the problem most in the far wing.

I agree with Bill's comments about adding a touch of room in front of the bird (although it could just be that i'm not a fan of square-ish crops). The IQ isn't up to par with your usual images -- maybe just a tad out of focus? jpeg compression?

I know it's a dog eat dog world, but you have to feel for the fish in this image. You have evoked a strong emotional response from me with this image, so in that regard, I think it is a big success. Now as for your processing, tell us more because something is a miss. Is it possible that you are applying adjustments with too heavy a hand?

That's one more Trout than I've ever caught lol

Liking the open mouthed fish, quite dramatic, but not sure about the square crop, IQ not as finely tuned as other shots I agree, but still great

Hi David, good wing position, and we have a great view of the last moments of his catch - open mouth a bonus. Comp wise, I would add to the RHS.

Excellent action shot, David. Good wong position and shooting angle. I would add some canvas to the right to allow more space for the bird to fly into.

A fine capture good exposure and focus. I have a few reservations over the crop and think a 3:2 and the bird slightly smaller in the frame would look good.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions. Was away from computer for a few days. After looking at the original I can say that the harsh light might have hurt the image and it was blown a bit so I had to recover the whites. These Osprey hunt at this location later in the morning so the light angle isnt optimum. Liked the pose. Thanks for the input.
