    Default Bee-eater and breakfast

Whilst driving through the nature reserve close to my house early one morning, I noticed this White fronted bee-eater perched close to the roadside, ever alert for his next meal. While I managed to capture a take off, ( they dont produce good take off poses ) I thought I would share him tossing his meal in the air before going down the hatch. Taken early morning from my car.

Nice job catching the action. Techs look good and nice and sharp. Looks like some kind of cicada he's eating. Well done Stuart.

Never seen a Bee-eater shot I didn't ooh and ahh over, this one no exception. Well timed Stuart, sharp and nicely exposed, I rarely get to see Bee-eaters here, but a thrill when I have done so, and always intriguing how they toss their food like this. Cant quite work out what sort of bug he's tossing, I've only ever seen them with bees and Dragonflys

this image is all about timing...steep shooting angle is less than ideal..

    Terrific shot!!!
Excellent timing, great perch, and nice light.
My only nit and this is just me the shooting angle seems a bit steep. Other than that.....
    Well done.

    Hi Stuart,
Great freeze of " the toss".
Angle is a bit steep for me though.
IQ is excellent and good composition,
    Gail

Ideal focus and excellent timing Stu, it may be worthwhile having a look at the dark shadows to provide a tad more detail. I like the pose and composition.
