    Default Eurasian curlew

Canon EOS 1DMIV, Canon EF 600mm/4L IS USM + EF 1.4x III
    1/2000 sec., f/7.1, ISO 640, bean bag

A little bit more space over the head would be better absolutely, but he was too close.

Exquisite Frank, the slightly elevated low angle works a treat and such a beautiful pastel colored backdrop. To me the perfect side on profile shot to show off that long long bill and all sits in the frame nicely, I myself dont see a need for more space above the head.....my only thought was possibly it could do with another slight selective application of sharpening, mainly the head, the eye to me looks just slightly fuzzy

I wish I could have that problem, being too close to this beauty. Pose and bg are lovely. Being that close I might have expected to see a little sharper detail in the wing feathers. Maybe DOF for being so close? Or maybe just a tad of selective sharpening would do it? Anyway, a lovely bird, nicely captured. I don't mind the tight framing.

What a great BG to have for this bird. Very nice image and I would perhaps consider a little more sharpening?

Excellent background, just the right amount of head turn and nice details, Frank. Not much I would change, maybe a little more canvas at the top.

    Sweet shot.
Very nice colors, excellent warm light, great pose, wonderful background, and great shooting angle.
My only nit is the eye. It looks a tad odd.
    Well done.

Excellent bg control, and the bg does look great. Subject looks very nice, except the eye.
Looks like the nictating membrane is 3/4 of the way closed. If you have a frame before or
after this one, check it against this one, I'll bet the eye looks much better. I also like the dirt
on the bill as evidence of foraging...

Hi Frank, excellent low perspective, and the simple pose against that colourful BG looks good. Your repost does look better.

Like the re-post as it fixes the sharpness issue. Nice pose and exposure. Great low angle and pleasing BG. Well done.
