    Default Common Tern

Despite it's name, this tern species is far from common here in Victoria!
    Happy New Year everyone!

    Very cool pose and angle.
    The wave is really nice.
A tad bit of noise on the BG maybe from compression but really attractive photo.

Love those long wings and great plumage detail. Tern nicely isolated against the blurred BG. This could work as a portrait crop too.

Superb image.Love the pose with full wing up with very nice details in whites,HA,waves in the water and white reflection on it.

Excellent wings-up pose. Love the green water, and the breaking wave coming in from the right. Noise noted.

Love the wing position and the light emitting from the white silky feathers. Agree with the bg noise which can be easily corrected. Another reason for the noise might be the higher ISO being used. In such good light wouldn't it be fine to use a lower ISO i.e. 200

Thanks for sharing. Wish you and your family a happy and prosperous new year ahead.

The image could use a very bit more on top, but I am digging the landscape orientation of the comp because I love the breaking water at right. Highly appealing image, well timed and processed.

Hi Greg, like the low angle of capture, and the raised wings even better. Lots of detail, well exposed, and I too enjoy the surrounding water. The comp in the OP works, and I can see a vertical too.

Love the wings and the exposure, I keep looking at the head and wondering if it is a tiny bit out of focus, the wings and tail look excellent to me??
