My first post of 2013 though this was created onboard a small boat in Torteguero Costa Rica in October 2011.
    Pretty rare in this area

I guess this will remain one of my favourite avian encounters, these are rarely seen at this level , preferring yo frustrate from the tree tops

Shot as landscape, and with little time to think the pic has been cleaned up with small elements being removed from the BG.
NR to Bg, resized and smart sharp. White/black points reset on eye.
Ev +2/3 poorlite post storm, HH from WOBBLY boat, silly 1/100 f5.6 ISO 800

A similar shot is featured in my E Book

Not seen this species before, well done on getting a less common species. Difficult conditions for photography, so all considering nicely done with mostly good sharpness, nice eye clarity as well, a little graininess is evident on the chest.

Well done under the conditions with which you had to deal. New species for me too. Although the head is sharp (indicating your SS was adequate) the body appears to be slightly OOF. Perhaps a bit more luminance smoothing and sharpening on the birds body only would help. Nicely done.

Cool species I've never seen. You did a nice job under those conditions.
