    Hi Allen,

I like the head position of the woodpecker, the light looks good as do the details. I was wondering about the BG as you said this is a set up. Is it a backdrop? Just asking because it looks a little funky on my monitor.

Beautiful bird and interesting pose Allen, but the perch doesn't work for me.

Jon, thanks for the comment and no the BG is not a backdrop. I did lighten the image a tad and am wondering if that is causing what you are seeing in the darker parts of the image.

Leo, agree the perch is not necessarily ideal. The larger birds would not land on my smaller perches so this is what I had that they would use. I actually recently moved to a new location so am just starting to work on a new set up and have some things to improve on. But this is my first shot of this species so decided to post it here.

Thank you for the comments everyone...

Wonderful sharp image Allen. It looks slightly over-flashed as the BG is so much darker. I'm wondering if you could burn the bird back a bit, but not the beak, which seems to be blending into the BG. Either way, it's a great image.
