    Default Recovering files

I thought I was being careful, but I inadvertently ended up formatting a compact flash card and an SD card before backing them up.
Both are SanDisk Extreme Pro cards.

I know there's software out there that purportedly lets you recover from such blunders.
Any recommendations would be appreciated (especially if it's free software :)
    Thanks!

The best software is RescuePro, it will recover all files if you formatted with camera.

subscription comes with your SanDisk Extreme Pro card. (look for activation code on a small card that comes in the CF box)

Thanks Arash. I found an older box (for an sandisk "extreme" cf) with the download info card in it. Giving it a try now.

    Btw, I formatted using DPP.

Formatting with PC is more tricky, but I hope you can recover. If the images are SUPER important I wouldn't touch the card and send it for professional recovery, it is expensive though.

Interestingly it was able to recover from my 16GB SD card, but not from my 32GB CF card.
    Definitely better than nothing!
I was being super careful so I'm baffled that I made this blunder.
    Oh well, c'est la vie.

Good thing I didn't have any ivory billed woodpecker photos in there :)
Thanks for your help and happy new year Arash.
