    Default Goldfinch on Teasel

It seems to have rained constantly for the past month here in the UK, so was good to get out today for the first time in a while. I liked the soft golden light and clean background for the Goldfinch image. As always, comments and more than appreciated.

    Canon 7D, 100-400mm, 1/800ss, F5.6, ISO500, +1/3 ev. Processed in Lightroom 4.

It is nice light. The bird looks a little soft like it's just back of your dof.

I really like the composition, bird pose, and BG on the image. I wish for a little more DOF to possibly get the other teasel in focus perhaps. You did well with the light quartering from the left a little.

Thanks for the comments. Agree about the DOF. I to wished the teasel in the background was more in focus. I'll remember that for next time.

Liking the seed heads and earthy colors in this one, nice smooth backdrop too. Difficult little birds and so very hard to get close to for a decent shot, this one slightly soft but still some detail showing through, liking the catchlight in the eye. My personal feelings are that the taller oof seed head competes a little with the bird and I'd consider removing it and re-cropping

Beautiful bird and scene. I think the critical focus was on the seed pod but the bird still looks acceptable. Maybe some selective sharpening on the bird. I also agree with Phil on the seed pod on the right. That being said I also think it is one of your best offerings since I have been viewing. Very artistic look to it. Well done

Lovely shot Simon, very natural looking. Purely for the sake of producing a more "ideal" portrait I would consider cloning the seed head on the right. I think however the image is perfectly acceptable in the current format.
The red plumage I strongly suspect (given you equipment is identical to mine) is just slightly over saturated something that can be easily checked and fixed. Additionally, I would reduce the highlights especially on the head just a tad and also apply a little more sharpening to the head, I think these few minor revisions will make a significant difference to an already very pleasing image.
