    Faraasz,

Some good field technique here, I really like this picture. For example the regal pose, muted background and exposure to protect the whites. The opportunity here is crop from the top (too much neg space) and a small layer from the bottom - then darken the foreground. I understand the reason for the OOF grass to provide a place for the virtual feel but it pulls the eye too much and needs to be muted. A second opportunity is a bit more space on the right (entire image is a bit tight IMO) and ensure the frame edges are clean and blend with the image (use cloning tool to blend edges). This is a strong shot - love it - well done.

Faraaz: Excellent image! Perfect lighting. Exposure, detail, viewing angle, background, all top notch. One tiny detail, a small blade of grass at the tail, could easily be "fixed" with CA fill. Love the bird! regards~Bill

Hi Faraaz, very nice job on this interesting bird! You have good exposure, color rendition and sharpness. The clear, sharp eye placed near a power point in the frame makes the image strong. Welcome to ETL and the 7D/400 club, you can make some nice images with this kit and I look forward to more from you.

This image looks quite good, Faraaz. Good angle and lovely BG. Good use of flash. Your bird has some pretty long legs there, and I would personally not take any more off of the bottom although darkening the FG a tad may help to not draw so much attention to it. If you have a little more space on the right, I agree it would be beneficial but not absolutely necessary if you don't have it.

Looking forward to seeing more of your images.

Thanks for the feedback guys! Marina is right - the bird has some pretty long legs and as such I did not want to crop too much from below. Even if the legs are unseen I prefer to leave "room" for them. Agree with the option to darken the foreground as well as the crop from the top.

Just bought a computer, so until that's ready I won't be able to make any PP adjustments. Using my PC at work to be online now. When I get that organized I'll try my hand though!
