Dudley, very nicely done. I only wish for a bit more room all around and some selective noise reduction in the bg. Otherwise, nicely captured! Great extension of the wing tips and nice feet position.

Great capture optimal timing, I too think it is just a tad large in the frame, the bird is beautifully sharp and I like the slight blurring of the background.. The noise does not other me but I suspect a little NR on the bird and a tad more on the background may prove beneficial.

Hard to add more to the good comments above.
I really like the pose and the great HA- really looks like he is slyly checking you out!
I would try to tease some more detail out of the blacks in the near wing with Detail Extractor if you have it,

Lovely landing pose and details. Would be nice if you could eek a few more details out of that underwing and agree on a little more room all around if you have it. Your gorgeous flamingo looks a little cramped.

Great pose, Dudley. Good advice given. Not sure if the BG noise issue is related to cropping - D3s at 4000 is still pretty clean unless cropped and sharpening applied globally instead of selectively. Is this from Marievale?

Great capture of the landing pose! I also wish there's more room around the bird, especially at the top, left, and bottom. I'm fine with the noise on the bird, but more NR on the background would be great.

Best wishes for 2013 and thanks for your comments. I have posted an adjusted image with more space around the bird.
Gail I do not have the Nik software so I used an adjustment brush in Raw to try for more detail under the RHS wing.
Tony The image was taken at Rondebult.
