I was at the University of Pretoria early morning when I couldnt resist a family shot of this proud couple of Egyptian Geese parents. Mostly, the little ones were bunched behind mom, but in this, they opened up nicely, and most chicks at least were looking forward.

How many of you counted all ten before reading the introduction.

    Wonderful family portrait.
Very nice light, terrific comp, and great IQ.
    Very well done.

Nice lineup. Like the pano comp and the parents flanking the babies. Great HA on everybody except #9 :) Techs and IQ look great. TFS

    Hi Stuart,
This is a very unique shot. It is so hard to get a shot with all the chicks looking were way. 9 out of 10 is pretty darn good! It is too bad you cannot show it larger on line because that would really make the chicks pop out.
I might take a bit more off the bottom to bring the chicks in closer

Haha! Very nicely timed Stuart! I love the head angle of the parent closest to us, and all those little guys ... how did you get them to look at you? :) I like the crop as is, maybe just a tad off the right. Well done!

Oh yes I like it! Your timing was good very often with shots like this one or two birds are OOF but these look fine. I think I would consider reducing the contrast just a little, just to see what the effect would be on the plumage.

Thanks Jon. I actually reduced the contrast by quite a bit before saving. Here is another version with even more contrast reduced. I feel it does make a difference.

Thank you all for the feedback and comments.

What a cool family Stu, and you've done a great job getting them to pose for you.
Love the light and the IQ.
Wonder if moving them further down in the frame would work.
A very happy new year to you.
