I like the pose and water drops. A few issues here, the red channel is blown in the chest area and overall the bird is soft/lacks details. The rain is nice. There are some processing/clone artifacts in the BG, the largest one on the left and around the bird

    Hi Monte:

    Good to see you posting!

I like the feel of the image, the scene captured. Good points on the techs by Arash. Working on the red channel may allow you to retrieve some more detail in the reds, and a bit more sharpening should help as well.

I could see a version cropped tighter to eliminate the upper branches.

Look forward to seeing more of your images.

    Cheers

I agree with both Arash and Randy. Technically, it could use a bit of work to take the image to the next level. However, I think you captured a great moment here. I wish the top branches were a little lower, as I like the way they frame the image. The pose of the cardinal is nice, and it's an added bonus that you can clearly see both feet and have a nice head angle. Work on what Arash mentioned, and you've got yourself a winner!

I really like where you were going with your idea/perspective here. I like the branches above and below with the water a lot, and the bird nice and small in the frame. That said your bird looks soft and I have a feeling your reds might be hot too.

Nice wintery feel to this image, Monte and I like how you've framed the bird and the overall composition.
Good feedback above re. the technical issues. Do keep them coming.
