    Default 2013

Why does time seem to pass faster the older I get? 2012 felt like flyby!!

I think it will be fun to share some of our personal motto's or favorite idioms as we look to 2013.

Here are a few of mine:
Treat others the way we want to be treated.
Forgive others as we want to be forgiven.
Love your subject more than your photography.
Strike while the iron is hot.
Get it while the gettin's good.
Aim at nothing and you will surely hit it.
Nothing's finer than a frog hair.
    Don't pee into the wind.
A picture is worth a thousand words, a great image is worth a thousand dollars(at least).

For years I couldn't remember...was it birds fly into the wind and don't pee into the wind...or was it
birds don't fly into the wind and pee into the wind.

    It sucks when I forget

    Hello everyone. My first post.

    This is my favourite.

    Amateurs worry about equipment.
    Professionals worry about money.
    Masters worry about light.

    I just take pictures... :)

    Happy new year.

If you got to pee (or go...well u know) go on the island with the most bushes! I am still picking out sand spurs in between my feet James! The Hooptie rocks, especially when you sit a top the speakers!

Our own Wayne Gretzky said it best, and he had no idea of the relevance to photography:

"You miss 100% of the shots you don't take"

    For all you bird photographers:
Duck when the gull flies directly over you (or put up an umbrella). Those guys aim.

If you don't know where you are going, any road will get you there.

    Happy 2013.

I've been going for years by a "Seussism": "From there to here, from here to there, funny things are everywhere". The Dutch translation in my first Dr. Seuss book was actually better, but is impossible to translate back into English and rhyme at the same time.
It helps me remind to take the time to look around me. Beauty and special things are truly to be found everywhere, even in the most common surroundings, and living up to this motto has provided me with ample photo opportunities throughout the years.

Happy 2013 to all of you!

I like the Gretzky quote, and use it often (not just for photography).
You gotta be lucky to be good BUT you gotta be good to be lucky!
A picture is worth a thousand words.

For James...when aboard the Hooptie Deux I guess we're all in the same boat!

    Happy 2013 everyone!

Louis Pasteur said "chance favors the prepared mind". When I worked at Disney R&D my boss said it this way "the harder I work, the luckier I get". I have used both lines as a response to the inevitable "wow, what luck!" when some people see an image that I worked for three hours to get!
"It is an illusion that photos are made with the camera... they are made with the eye, heart, and head." - Henri Cartier Bresson
