    Default Common Redpoll.

Another from the backyard, the last one with this perch now that I have collected some new ones to avoid too much repetition. The perch has been moved to catch my fence colour rather than the neighbour's (which gave the neat aqua-ish colours in previous images).

Canon 7D + 100-400L @400mm, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/200s., f/6.3, ISO 800 (settings histogram checked), small crop fro comp, a couple of "out of place" snowflakes removed, and the moss clump darkened via burn tool (as is the eye's pupil).

This one is my favorite of the series!
The perch is so pretty ( love the moss clump) and the body position and head tilt are excellent.
A wonderful winter scene. I like it with the snowflakes but could also see a version with them evicted from the scene.
    Congrats on a fine image,
    Gail

Great image of this cutie, Daniel. I like the pose, diagonal perch with nice lichen and moss.

Nice pose and sharpness considering the gloomy conditions snowy days posses. Hopefully a Hoary will stop in your yard soon!

Another sweet Redpoll image. I wish these guys would come to my neighborhood. I love the comp, colors, perch, pose and wintry feeling. Sharp where it counts -- I don't know if a little more dof and/or ss would have helped if the conditions permitted, but I like it as is.

A beautiful and delicate image Dan. Very effective. Snow fallings adds a lot IMHO.

If I was to change anything I might remove the part of the branch going out the RHS of the frame as I look at it.
I would carefully snap the thinner section of that branch. The snapped end would be hidden behind the wider wood, closer to us, so you shouldn't see any ugly broken wood. Removing the thinner portion would stop my eye from travelling out of the frame.

    Just my thoughts..

    Cheers Austin

Lovely, Dan! The snow is a nice touch. Love the perch. I do wish that the perch had more curve to it, but this is great!

I like the pose, sharpness, perch, snow on the head/beak and composition. You can just start to make out the faint outline of the fence boards in the BG. Excellent image Daniel!

Well Daniel, your "Back yard" images sure put mine to shame . Beautiful bird, great perch; how do you find those? Superlative BG. Great light too. Well done!

    very pretty picture Danny.

I am a fan of these perches as well. I have collected a few and have set them up but haven't had the time (and success) to get a great shot like this.

Getting out in the snow definitely payed you back. well exposed. I like the way the bird has moved its head away in an evasive action. But that also rendered the eye slightly closed.

Flying snow adds so much to this image. ( spent 2 whole days out in the Rare Dallas snow but couldnt get any birds).

I missed ptrevious images in this series but the BG compliments the bird and overall mood of the image.

Excellent shot Dan, I really like the pose and those tiny snow particles on the head.

Very artistic image, Daniel. Love how you've created a bg that perfectly compliments the subtle colors of the bird. Falling snow adds alot as does the body position of the little bird.

Love the sense of the elements in this image. Pretty male bird with a cute head turn.
    Great perch!
