    Default Cormorant headshot

I captured this image at Ahninga Trail in the Everglades National Park a few weeks ago during my swing through south Florida. Living in north Florida and not going south very often, I had not gotten a good oportunity prior to this for a decent cormorant headshot, so I was glad to be able to check this one off my wish list. These birds are very cooperative at letting people get close without being spooked. I made several images of this bird from different angles to get varying backgournds, but I liked this one with the blue sky the best. Photo Details: Canon 1D Mark II N with Canon 100-400L IS lens in manual mode, 1/1000 at f8, partial metering at iso 200 hand-held - shot in the gentle early morning sunight without flash.
