I discovered that I really like Sandhill Cranes.
It is not a new love affair, I have nice images from here in Ontario as well, but spending time at Bosque Del Apache enhences this feeling a lot.
I would say every birder and avian photographer should go there at least ones in a lifetime.
It's a magic place in many ways.
Thanks for looking and I wish Happy Holiday Season to all the members.

Love the wing position, the teasels-especially the out of focus ones, and the sharpness. You were done in by the small westerly component of the north wind with the bird angling slightly away....

Overall it's a great shot Karl with some vey nice colours, if anyting I would have tried for a little more contrast to give the Crane's head some more seperation from the background especialy on the top.

Maybe some selective sharpening in the same area would have worked also.

I can see why you have a love affair with these birds. This is another beauty from Bosque. I love the wing position, the foreground/background, and the lovely light. I personally don't mind the flight angle on this. Well done.

And a Happy Holiday to you and yours.
