Some things just cannot be planned...point in case this large wet snowflake that exploded upon hitting this female Common Redpoll on the back of the head (I'd love to say I timed it this way!)

Canon 7D + 100-400L @400mm, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/200s., f/6.3, ISO 800, natural light, handheld, darkened pupil and lichen at bottom via burn tool, about 80% FF, feeder setup.

Daniel, that just brought a smile to my face. As usual you have a clean, wonderfully composed image with great details and colors. Glad you were shooting at 1/200" to capture the snow movement. Lovely shot!

P.S. if you can, send some of those Redpolls down to FL. I sure would love to photograph one!

    Wonderful shot!!!
Love the effect of the snowflake. like if it's getting ready to be transported or something of the sort.
Love the perch and background. Terrific pose and great details.
    Well done.

Love the splash! A very pleasing shot, I would suggest however the detail in the bird's plumage is not so well defined as as per your usual images, you are a tough act to follow Dan

Great moment capture, Daniel. I like the nice lichen covered perch with a little bit of moss and I like the smooth background. The snow hutting the head gives extra interest.

Bird, perch, snow, and snowflake bomb all superb. Wish only that the lens were pointed down a bit to include the entire lichen lower left corner.

Daniel, you want to trade 7D bodies? I'd be thrilled to get that kind of shot with mine on anything over 500. Great job as usual, nice perch.
