Default Common Redpoll on Alder Brush

Setting up perches is something that I need a lot of work on, but even a blind fool can luck into something decent
every so often ....The bird was attracted with food. The image was made last winter in Duluth Minnesota, in a year
that brought little in the way of accumulating snowfall at this point, allowing for a nice warm dead grassy background.
SonyA300, Sigma50/500, iso400, f9, 1/500, cropped, removed four dust sensor spots, cloned out small twig in the lower
left hand corner right above the lower perch branch, USM. Image was made close to sunset.
    Comments and critiques welcome.
    Regards,
    Shawn Zierman.

Wonderful shot. At first I thought it had a red cast, but when I opened the image in Photoshop it looked fine.
The birds looks a little sleepy to me since the eye does not seem to be wide open. Or am I imagining that?

Shawn, beautiful shot. I really like the way the upper branch drops dorwn to form somewhat of a frame. Very nice background coloring and bokeh.

    This is very nice Shawn.
I am not sure about the upper branch. I like how it frames the bird but not liking the 4 seed pods at the end.
You have a great BG and a great HA. Light is beautiful.

I like the hues/colours here very much Shawn, great light and overall pleasing composition.
I like how the top twig arches over the bird.

I love the warm colours and light featured on this image. I'm OK with the upper branch. Good comp, exposure, sharpness. You even got a bit of irridescense on the forehead.

Shawn, I really like the overhanging branch - but only because it arches back over. You got a great head angle from this guy, almost as if you asked him to pose for you.

Nicely framed by the branches, quite clever I think, lovely composition but I personally think it all looks a bit too reddish/orange
