    Default Zebra and Double-barred Finches

This female Zebra finch joined the Double-barred on a branch of flowering wattle.

This is the same flowering wattle that gave me heaps of PP problems due to clipped reds in my post a couple of days ago.

I think I have managed to address this problem with this post. I would be grateful for your thoughts.

I see nice details in the yellow floweres as an indication that you dealt with them good.
The birds look nice. Love the details colurs and composition John. The pose of the top bird is not the most desireable due to your position in relation to the bird, but still looks very nice.
It is much more difficult to control poses dealing with two birds.

    Hi John,
I love the color fest going on in this image.
I like the composition and the 2 different species work well together in this image.
    Love all the visible feet.
i would sharpen the area around the eye of the double barreled finch. Critical focus looks like it was on the zebra finch head.i wish I could see the end of the wattle and wish you had zoomed out to include it.
I hope you don't mind but I cloned out the bottom leaf and flowers to get a cleaner polished look. If this is against your ethics just hit the delete button. I would also add a bit to the left to include the entire flower at the bottom.

Thanks for your input Gail and yes your repost works well.
I just checked the RAW image and the wattle branch does extend quite a way down. I cropped from the bottom to strengthen the composition. But I do like your treatment here. Thanks.

This is a pretty great shot. I like how the yellows are handled. Really excellent. It's awesome to see these birds in a wild setting in their natural habitat as opposed to all the caged birds of these species we have in our pet stores over here.

I find the orange-brown spots on the leaves distracting. It would be easy to remove them.
    Otherwise it seems perfect.

Gail's repost has made an excellent image brilliant, but I don't think there was anything worth altering with the original anyway, nice one getting both together.

    Well done, John
You've definitely solved the clipping problem and the flowers look great.
Agree with previous comments on position of birds. Still a nice image in spite of that.
Keep them coming! (next time- three species?)

Hi John, you certainly nailed the exposure to bring out the detail in all the flowers, and what a bonus to get two different species in one frame. I like what Gail did to the bottom flowers, and Im fine with the 'dirty' leaf.

Cool that you got both species together. Well exposed and very sharp. Looks like you've got the yellows handled well. I like the repost too. Very well done John.

This is really brilliant. Two species on a lovely perch, and +1 to the way you handled the colors/contrast in this image.
I actually prefer the OP composition wise.

these are 2 cool-looking finches, nice work and I like how the yellow blossoms complement them
I would tone down the brightest whites using a multiplied luminosity mask (see Robert Amoruso's sticky thread in Wildlife)

Gail's repost nails it, but great work getting both together, difficult to do, you are making this look easy!
