    Default Greater Flamingo Portrait

Visited one of our local bird sanctuaries this morning .
Captured this portrait of a sub - adult Greater Flamingo just before the clouds spoilt the remainder of the morning.
The juveniles are less colourful than the adults, with the bill turning pale pink in adulthood .

Love the pale colors, the flamingo and background in similar tones. Not your run-of-the-mill flamingo :-) The curve of the neck sets off the composition.

Hi Arno, lovely soft light, and I like how you have cropped this. Detail looks good, as does the smooth water BG. Well captured.

The epitome of elegance and vertical framing was a must as it works so well, cant think of a thing to improve upon. So envious of countries where these birds exist, and surprised we don't have them in Australia with the vast saline estuaries and salt lakes we have here.....they are amazing creatures
