    Very subtle!
    Very effective!
An obvious change would be to crop the left edge or to brighten it.
But as I looked as this I like it as is.

Awesome very low angle, great feather detail and love the sandy beak, nice work.

I have let the dark on the left there on purpose. I feel that it makes the eye wander around the image.

Beautiful image Geir! I could see a version with less room on the left and a tad more on the right. Either way, this is a stunning capture with spot on focus.

I like the non formulaic crop on this. My eye goes straight to where it should, the birds eye and then wonders around the image. Even looking at the forum thumbnail, I had to come in and have a closer look.

Lovely image Geir - and with your low DOF, you must have been pretty close! Awesome detail in the head area,

Nice low angle and detail. I see no advantage to the darkened area to the left and find it quite distracting. I think this image would have been better if the entire subject was in focus. Sometimes this is not possible, but here it could easily have been done by raising the low ISO 200 and decreasing the aperture. my 2 cents~Bill

Geir, I am with you on the dark band on the right. I might add tiny bit more room on the right side so that the bird is not too close to that edge.

I can see more DOF helping this shot but that might make the transition line in the BG( behind the head) more conspicuous than it is. Terrific details, head turn and low angle. Surreal bokeh...liked it.

Great low face to face angle and exposure.
I like the dark band but also agree a bit more on the right would look nice.

Nice low angle and although I am not usually liking the bird so far over to the side I find it works well with this.

Certainly sharp where it needs to be, but wishing for a bit more dof and space on the right...liking very much the sand on the beak

I enjoy the plumage on this fine looking Dunlin. I either see them in close to full breeding plumage or full
basic plumage. So this intermediate phase is appealing to me. Your image design seems cleverly deliberate.
I could take or leave some of it, but I like that you are promoting your own style...(considering your recent shorebird posts as well).
