Full frame pano and cloned out a part of a duck from LUC. Added a bit of canvas in front of duck as well.
Harsh light but I thought the action was fun.

Nice getting him sharp, they take off in a hurry.
I like all the water, I think the frame before this, if you have it would be interesting
with the duck at the other side of the frame as the water in front looks attractive.

Terrific action, Gail. Works well as a pano, but I would crop a little more off of the bottom.

I anyone ever tried to capture this bird in flight or a take off, should know how fast they are.
This as an amzing take off shot, Gail.
    Composition looks good.
Good choice that you show the trailing water splash and also to add canvas to the front. Great PP work.

Nice and sharp Gail. Love the splashing water. I agree this is an amazing capture and great PP work. I know from experience it's hard to get the trail of water from the takeoff in the image and to leave space at the front of the bird. Nicely done.

Hi Gail, hmmmmm... with you lot, it must have been an adventure. Cool action captured, flying water, and glad you got the raised wings. The yellow eye stands out well, and I do like the colour of the water.

Funnily enough, I captured similar action yesterday with an Egyptian goose 'running' across the water before take off. One always wants to keep the splashes, as they make the image, but also wanting to leave space in front. This works for me.

Great shot of one of my favorite ducks taking off. Well captured and exposed. The pano crop looks real nice on this keeping the water trail intact. Wonderful action. Good job.

Wonderful capture Gail. Love the pano and the water behind. I too would love to see one with a bit of canvas added in front.
Not an easy shot to get , and this one is nailed.

Wow very nicely done! Great comp for this image and nice addition to the front of the bird. You got the wings in ideal position and got the exposure just right in harsh light conditions. The grad between blue and orange is a nice touch as well!

Gail - Really great capture. I love the trailing splash and wing position. Pano works very well.

It is a fun image for sure, and portrays the merganser's take-off behaviour well. I like the pano crop lots, but I agree with Marina about taking just a bit more off the bottom. Awesome splashing action!!

Takes some skill to get a shot like this. I like the composition. Fine job.
