    Default Northern Pintail

Along the Toronto waterfront recently. Self-crit ..... I wish I could have caught the head angle a little more towards me, but the bird only co-operated so far, and I would have liked to be lower, but I couldn't do it because of the terrain.

    Olympus OM-D E-M5, Panasonic 100-300, hand-held, 1/320, f5.6, ISO1250, pattern metering.

Small crop, sharpening, sat and color adjustments, nr in LR4.

    Comments welcome.

I love the colour pallet but personally would maybe crop the reflection? The bird just seems to be 'floating' in the middle of the frame? Might be the higher angle or it could just be me lol.

    Kind regards.

    Hi Richard,
Good self critique! Great looking duck.
I am happy with the HA personally.
I would brighten the image a bit and do another round of NR on the BG and reflection.

A beautiful sharp image of the Pintail Richard. The diagonal position of the subject in the frame works well and I think in has just enough head turn IMO.
I like the lovely soft light (?overcast sky) and the warm tones of the Pintail reflected in the water. Nice one!

Hi Richard, I think you nailed the self-critique. From the sounds of it, you did everything you could to get the image! The light in this image is nice, as are the details throughout.

Good self critique, but a stunning looking bird and liking very much the feather detail in this, there does seem to be some graininess showing in shadows and head region though
