The yellow background is an outbuilding on our property. I cropped out a lot of the oof branches around the bird, but after attempting to do any more, and attempting to crop out the branches between the primaries and the tail, I decided it looked better without my "skills" (or rather, lack of them). I felt the lighting brought out the colors on the bird.

Olympus OM-D E-M5, Panasonic 100-300, 1/500, f5.6, ISO1250, pattern metering, hand-held. Cropping, color adjustments, sharpening, nr in LR4 before the cloning attempts in PSE9.

    All comments welcome.

    Thanks, Richard

Hi Richard- I like the richness of the colours here and the yellow BG looks great as a backdrop to the beautiful subject. The main perch works nicely with the subject but you could lose the blades of grass LR. It would be better if the main branch did not exit the image at a corner.

Richard, I think you did well with this image. You have a lovely palette and your bird looks quite cozy. The diagonal branch is working well for me, and I like how the bird is sitting diagonally as well.

I like the diagonal branch, but the stick at the bottom left is very distracting. Also, the bird seems a little too dark. Maybe you could lighten him up? Also, I like the background colour.
