    Hi Jonathan,
welcome to one of your seldom visits here. You should post more often.

Love this simple image with good colors, tonality and the rest in same quality.Like the low POV and the eye contact, with the really good HA.

EXcellent detail on the monitor .

If you have i would like to see more room on bottom instead of the top.

    TFS Andreas

Hi Jonathan, I would echo Andreas thoughts & observations and if you have more space below then a 16 x9 could also work and in keeping with your OP? Where was this taken, looks more like over here than an exotic location?

Andreas, Steve thanks for the comments, I could add canvas and fill in but I have a suspicion a thicker line of OOF will look distracting, I will try any how and see what you think. The image was taken in The Gambia, the monitor is wild and free, the location is the hotel grounds, he had just come out to investigate becasue at 11am the vultures are fed scraps and he fancied his chances. As it turned out he did very nearly get something but it wasn't what he bargained for, a couple of vultures pecked him!
Now I have done the repost I have to agree with your suggestions, I think it is a little better - thanks guys!

Looked a little too well manicured, thanks Jonathan.

Hi Jonathan - repost is an improvement with the additional room below. Nice detail and sweet bokeh. Low pov also works great.

Hi Jonathan, I would be tempted to just lose a little bit more off the LHS & top, giving a good third to look into, WDYT? The SS was in fact 1/1600 (or should I say exposure ), so I think you could have dropped the ISO to 400 without to much lose but slightly better IQ?

    cheers

Hi, I like your repost, it's better with more ground. love the colours and details. I think Steve misread, I saw your SS was 1/600, so you couldn't really lower the ISO. overall, well done!!!

Sorry - just testing it was 1/1600 sec, the reason for that was the camera was set up for flight shots and this scenario presented itself without notice..... and the IS doesn't work on my 100-400 so I wanted to ensure I got a sharp image especially when it was against that background, the opportunity was unlikely to represent itself.

nice low angle and profile here Jonathan
to my eye the eye/beak look a tad softer than the neck?? was it angled? perhaps a slight increase in sharpening there will be fitting
