A very rare activity here! Also from 2011, coming down the hill at the Overlook at the Lock and Dam. Starting with the raw image, I cropped wider than in my original processing and had to clone out part of a large pine tree on the right and other minor things. Topaz Simplify in 2 layers with masking and Nik grad ND and minor contrast adjustment. I added a texture in the sky for a little color and "snow".

Nice work....and in MIssissippi? Wow. I don't know what the original looked like, but I would guess you made a wise decision taking out that large tree. I like the simplicity of the people enjoying the uncluttered snow.

A fun image for sure. I can remember the days with my two young sons in the snow. A nice addition with the sky texture and snow to complete the scene.

A very nice scene Judy, it's fun and playful. I like the filtering too!

Thanks Hazel, Dave and Denise! I only remember sledding twice as a kid, on a piece of cardboard, on the small slope in our yard and in a better location when I was a teenager with a friend whose mother took us to a small hill in town.

Hi, Judy, this is a fun image. The snowflake texture looks great Not much snow in Florida - when I was a kid we used to slide down the grassy slopes of a sinkhole on pieces of cardboard (things were a little more basic back then - but it was great fun).

Thanks Cheryl. Yes cardboard was what most kids here used, only transplanted Northerners had sleds. A few used hubcaps too. They were solid back then.

Nice job. The simplicity of the scene allows the woman and child to stand out. They seem to be having so much fun!

You've not only captured something that's unusual in your part of the country, but you've presented it very well. The composition is right on, and I like the aspect ratio of the image. I think Henri Cartier-Bresson would agree that you've shot at the decisive moment. The posture of the person pulling the sled adds tremendously to the impact of the image. I love what you did with the sky and how well it works with the colors of the snow on the ground.
