Default King Penguin walking in the snow

A visit in October to South Georgia pretty much guarantees the availability of snow on the ground, which provides for great white backgrounds together with the black, white and yellow King Penguins. My purpose was to find different compositions.

This image was created in the morning at 6: 52am at Right Whale Bay, South Georgia Islands, Southern Ocean.

Canon EF 500mm f/4L IS II USM lens, and the EOS-1DX. ISO 500. Evaluative metering: 1/320 sec. at f/8.0 set manually.

    All comments are welcome.

    Clemens:

This works for me, because it makes you think about the image, what is going on. Did they have a fight, one is going off to lunch, lots of possibilities.

I like the foot up on the front bird.

I do rather wish the head was visible on the rear bird, but still very effective.

    Cheers

Love the simplistic image design. Paul Mckenzie calls there minimalist. IAC, it works very well. I do not mind the sleeping (headless) bird at all. You might wish to evict the dark line behind the upper bird. All i all, very well done. And creative.

This is fantastic and well done for seeing this and following through with clever composition.
    Very refreshing piece of art.

I like this alot too. It tells many possible stories like Randy said. I think he's off to pick some flowers for her if he can find any in the snow LOL. I agree with Artie about the dark line at least making it less obvious if not removing it. Nice Image
